🌿 José Luis Blanco Pastor, research leader at PLANTAE LAB and professor at Universidad de Cádiz, works on evolutionary botany and plant adaptation to environmental stress.
With a PhD in Botany, his scientific path has taken him through Spain, Sweden, and France. He is currently an EMERGIA I3 researcher at IVAGRO, where he leads a group focused on understanding the genomic basis of complex traits linked to adaptation to climate and soil—especially in Mediterranean plant species.
From his lab in Cádiz, he strives to connect fundamental science with the major agricultural challenges of our time: sustainability, resilience, and climate change. He has led five competitive research projects, including Marie Skłodowska-Curie, JIN, and EMERGIA, building a strong national and international network.

🌿 Jesús José Soriano, researcher at the PLANTAE LAB group (UCA–IVAGRO).
A biologist with experience in plant genetics, microbiology, and ecology, he is currently involved in the GENOVINES project, which focuses on the Vitis genus in the Iberian Peninsula. His research aims to analyze the genetic and phenological variability of grapevine varieties to identify genetic resources for their adaptation to climate change.
In addition to his work with the group, he has conducted ecological studies in river basins such as the Guadalquivir, Segura, and Ebro, assessing the ecological quality of these wetlands. His experience also includes research on Quercus adaptations to fire and drought, the dynamics of halophytes in marshes, and molecular analyses.
