We are botanists focussing on the ecological and evolutionary genetics of Mediterranean plants and the functional genomics of local adaptation.
The Plant Adaptation and Evolution Lab (PLANTAE LAB) is hosted at the Viticulture and Agri-Food Institute (IVAGRO) at the University of Cádiz (UCA). We study plant diversification processes and the genomic basis of complex traits associated with adaptation to climate and soil using extensive phenotyping and high-throughput sequencing technologies. We are particularly interested in using this information to help agricultural plant species (with a focus on grasslands and cover crops) adapt to ongoing global change.
